My journey started in the insulation business at a very young age. I grew up insulating new construction, existing homes, commercial projects, remodels and everything in between. I smile when I reflect on my past and have pride in the fact I insulated my first home when I was thirteen. I was very blessed to grow up in the construction business as my family owned and operated a very successful insulation and gutter business in upstate New York.
In 2009, I was BPI Certified as a Building Analyst and started performing energy audits for existing homes. My main goal was to provide energy improvement solutions to existing homeowners. By adding insulation to homes and also performing energy audits, I was able to ensure that tightening the building envelope didn’t negatively affect the performance of other systems in the home. This can be very harmful to the performance of a home by increasing the chance of back drafting, moisture concerns and increased carbon monoxide potential.
Furthermore, when tightening a building shell, ventilation is crucial. So many older homes rely on passive ventilation to ensure the house breathes properly; However, with passive ventilation comes several negative factors. Some of these negative ventilation factors include pollutants, VOC’s, viruses, bacteria, spores, pesticides, allergens, etc. All of these create very poor Indoor Air Quality (IAQ).
I worked for a very large insulation company that taught me so much over the years on building science and the business of installed products for homeowners and builders. For over twenty-one years I had the pleasure of performing installs, energy audits, sales, and management.
My real passion and focus today is Building Science, Analyzation, Green Building Design, Energy Audits, HERS Ratings and Home Inspections. I take pride in knowing that I make a difference everyday by promoting clean, safe, healthy homes to consumers. My sole priority today is looking at a home with a vision on how we can create an efficient and safe home for the consumer for new construction, and how we can better existing homes with a retro-fit energy improvement approach.
Most of my career has been focused on the installation of green building products whereas now my focus is on analyzing, designing and auditing buildings. My passion is promoting sustainable, regenerative and renewable energy solutions to lower greenhouse gas emissions and impact buildings can have on our planet.
My vision for JBB Group is to promote clean building solutions through a Green Building approach that promotes economic prosperity, social responsibility, and environmental stewardship.
